What are the Observed Holidays for the Futures Market?

U.S. futures markets observe scheduled Market Holidays in line with certain U.S. federal holidays. On these days, trading hours may be shortened, or markets may be fully closed.

Each product group can follow a different holiday schedule, including earlier closes and later reopening times. For the most accurate, up‑to‑date details on specific dates and hours, refer to the CME Group Holiday Calendar.

Independence Day scheduled close dates/times per product group:

Holiday trading schedules may vary by product group and by date. The following categories have modified hours for the upcoming holiday:

  • Interest rates:

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 4 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: Closes at 12 PM CT

  • Energy:

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 4 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: Closes at 12 PM CT

  • Equities:

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 4 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: Closes at 12 PM CT

  • Grains

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 1:20 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: No Trading

  • FX:

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 4 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: Closes at 12 PM CT

  • Metals:

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 4 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: Closes at 12 PM CT

  • Livestock

    • Thursday, 7/2: Closes at 1:05 PM CT

    • Friday, 7/3: No Trading

  • Crypto - Normal Trading Hours
